- Schedule: Full-time - 40 hours per week. Interns must be able to work the majority of their schedule between 6:30 am - 6:00 pm Eastern Time, Monday through Friday and attend mandatory orientation on February 8, 2027.
The Library of Congress Internships (LOCI) program is a seasonal, 10- or 12-week paid internship program that enables undergraduate, graduate students, and recent graduates to gain experience through applied learning and professional development opportunities that advance the academic and career pursuits of participants.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe position description number for this position is 465642. This is a non-supervisory, bargaining unit position. The Spring 2027 session of the Library of Congress Internships Program include options for virtual, remote project work. Interns hired under this announcement will be expected to conduct work from their home location.
This program offers undergraduate, graduate students and recent graduates insight into the environment and culture of the world's largest and most comprehensive repository of human knowledge. Interns will be exposed to a broad spectrum of library work: copyright, preservation, reference, access standards, and information management.
Near the end of their appointments at the Library, the interns join together to present their accomplishments and share their insights on the impact of their work. The assignments will span many professional fields at the Library, including collections support, communications, event planning, human capital, information technology, and research. Interns work with Library staff on mission-critical projects that utilize the interns' existing skills.
Interns are exposed to additional opportunities to expand their skills through special assignments, professional development training and workshops, mentoring, and other enrichment activities. Interns participate in a wide range of projects offered across the Library of Congress that are designed to challenge and strengthen the skills of emerging professionals and fulfill the mission and vision of the Library of Congress.

MUST be a U.S. Citizen currently enrolled at time of application in a degree-granting program of study at an accredited institution of higher learning (community college, college, university, or tribal college) at the undergraduate level or graduate level, OR have graduated or will graduate between January 1, 2026 and December 31, 2026.
