The Office of the Dean is responsible for the academic and administrative functions of Tufts University School of Medicine, including oversight of the School's academic departments, teaching and research enterprises, student services, and campus facilities. The Office also provides leadership in strategic planning, resource allocation, faculty recruitment, and partnership development with clinical affiliates, supporting the effective management of a large and complex academic medical environment.
This is a benefits-eligible part-time position scheduled for 17.5 hours per week. The posted salary range represents the full-time equivalent (FTE) annual salary range for this position.
Actual compensation will be prorated based on the 17.5-hour-per-week schedule.
This is a primarily on-site position based at Tufts University School of Medicine. The role includes local travel to affiliated clinical training sites and offers flexibility for limited remote work responsibilities, as appropriate.
What You'll DoThe Director of Clinical Affairs provides strategic leadership and oversight for the Tufts University School of Medicine's clinical education enterprise, including its clinical faculty and broad network of affiliated training sites. These sites provide educational experiences for medical students (MD), Physician Assistant (PA) students, Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) students, and pre-professional learners.
Reporting to the Vice Dean, Academic Affairs, the Director develops and sustains partnerships with teaching hospitals, community health centers, physician practices, and other clinical organizations to support high-quality educational experiences and advance the School’s educational mission. The Director serves as a key liaison between the School of Medicine and its clinical affiliates, cultivating collaborative relationships with healthcare executives, academic administrators, faculty, site leaders, and community partners.
This highly visible leadership role requires exceptional relationship management, strategic planning, and organizational skills, along with the ability to influence outcomes, navigate complex environments, and drive continuous improvement across clinical education partnerships and operations.
Responsibilities Include:
Clinical Education Partnership Leadership- Provide strategic direction and oversight for the School of Medicine's clinical education network.
- Develop, strengthen, and sustain partnerships with affiliated hospitals, community health centers, physician practices, and other clinical organizations.
- Serve as the principal liaison between the School of Medicine and its clinical affiliates.
- Identify opportunities to expand and enhance clinical training sites and learner experiences.
- Lead efforts to recruit, onboard, engage, retain, and recognize clinical faculty across affiliated training sites.
- Support faculty appointment processes and academic affiliation activities for clinical educators.
- Foster strong relationships with clinical educators and site leaders.
- Promote initiatives that strengthen faculty participation in the School's educational mission.
