Course:
Data-Driven Literacy Assessment Reading/Literacy specialist candidates are immersed in K-12 literacy assessment for current teaching professionals. This course equips candidates with the skills to support teachers in developing, selecting, and interpreting assessment data to enhance student reading abilities through screening, intervention, remediation, and monitoring progress. With a focus on students requiring additional support, including English learners and those exhibiting signs of dyslexia, candidates will learn to communicate assessment results effectively to various audiences
Responsibilities include equipping students with the required skill set, facilitating classroom discussions, assessing student performance, and preparing students to be successful leaders in their chosen profession.
Other main responsibilities include the following:
- Facilitate weekly main discussion forums to engage students in the online classroom.
- Adhere to weekly grading requirements, deadlines, and time frames.
- Respond to students’ questions and emails within the established time frames.
- Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.

Preferred:
Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction or Instructional Leadership or Elementary Education or Doctorate in Learning and Teaching or Doctorate in Teaching Innovation or Doctorate in Literacy or Doctorate in Reading or related field AND valid state teacher certification.
Minimum:
Masters in Education or Curriculum and Instruction or Literacy or Reading or related field AND a valid state teacher certification with an endorsement in reading or a reading specialist certificate AND two areas of exceptional expertise.
All instructors must have a minimum of five years of experience as a K-12 educator.
