Kennametal is seeking a Sr. Sales Engineer to support partnerships with Machine Tool Builders and grow our metal cutting business in the Northcentral United States, with a focus on Chicago, IL, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. This field sales role is based in a home office and requires approximately 25–50% travel to meet customer and financial goals. Responsibilities include building trust, listening to customer challenges, solving technical issues, and following through on commitments.
Key Job Responsibilities- Establish relationships with new and existing Kennametal machine tool customers to provide solutions.
- Manage and coordinate the execution of large customer projects with engineering and operations to exceed expectations.
- Meet sales revenue goals of growth and profitability.
- Promote and implement both custom and standard Kennametal Metal Cutting solutions.
- Advocate for Kennametal to the customer and for the customer to Kennametal.
- Collaborate across multiple business segments.
- Grow focus products through initiative activities.
- Develop and maintain customer data to provide consultative partnership (CRM).
- Execute growth initiative projects.
- Travel approximately 25%–50%.
- 6+ years’ experience in machining/metal cutting industry.
- Technical training in machining and programming.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Engineering or related field, or equivalent industry experience.
- Strong technical understanding of metal cutting tooling.
- Practical experience interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
- CAD/CAM experience.
- Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Experience working cross‑functionally with customers, engineering, and manufacturing locations.
$90,000 – $115,000 annually base salary plus bonus with target of 30% of base salary.
