Senior Mechanical Designer 2 - Nuclear Power

Join Sargent & Lundy as a Senior Mechanical Designer 2 in our Nuclear Power Group. This hybrid role combines in‑office and remote work to develop mechanical physical layout drawings in a 3‑D model, leading detailed design efforts and mentoring junior designers.

• Work with multi‑disciplined engineering teams to create mechanical physical layout drawings in a 3‑D model.
• Design mechanical systems, troubleshoot, and solve a wide variety of mechanical design issues.
• Use 3D modeling software to generate mechanical design schematics.
• Act as team lead coordinating detailed design phases for all aspects of the integrated mechanical design model.
• Guide other designers and project team members to ensure a complete and timely design.
• Plan and execute design deliverables, such as general arrangements, piping isometrics, piping composites, pipe support drawings, and equipment location drawings.
• Conduct field walk‑downs and data gathering at client facilities as needed.
• Serve as a mentor to less experienced drafters and designers.

• An Associate's Degree in drafting, or a high school diploma with 1+ years of drafting coursework or equivalent technical experience.
• Ten or more years of detailed physical design experience in mechanical general arrangements, piping systems, and supports.
• Proficiency with design software tools for executing 3‑D plant layout models.
• Experience reviewing mechanical equipment, outlining interface points, and coordinating associated deliverables.
• Ability to interface with engineering and design teams of other disciplines in the power plant design process.

• Proficiency with Micro Station.
