Join TÜV Rheinland North America as a Product Safety Engineer. You’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and compliance of cutting‑edge machinery, automation/robotics, and semiconductor equipment.
Pay Range$80,000 - $100,000 per year.
SummaryRelevant experience in product safety, regulatory compliance, or equipment testing is required. You will conduct product evaluations both in-house and at client sites to ensure compliance with global standards such as IEC, EN, UL, CSA, NFPA, and SEMI. You will prepare detailed technical reports, serve as the primary client liaison, and drive process improvements.
Key Responsibilities- Define project scope by analysing client documentation and product construction to determine requirements, costs, timelines, and sample needs.
- Perform compliance assessments at in‑house and client sites to ensure adherence to IEC, EN, UL, CSA, NFPA, and SEMI standards.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, document findings, and communicate results to clients.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring smooth communication and project execution.
- Lead client meetings, provide updates, address technical issues, and discuss test‑specific challenges.
- Contribute to process improvements, develop test strategies, and evaluate emerging requirements.
- Build and maintain strong professional relationships with clients to foster trust and collaboration.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or related engineering discipline—or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years in product safety, regulatory compliance, or equipment testing.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, manufacturing processes, and safety‑critical systems.
- Knowledge of U.S. and international regulatory standards (EN/IEC 60204‑1, NFPA 79, EN/IEC/UL/CSA 61010‑1, CSA C22.2 No. 301, UL 508A, SEMI S2, SEMI S8, SEMI S22, Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, ISO 13849).
- Familiarity with functional safety principles and standards.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills, with ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Willingness to travel 60‑80% to client sites.
- Valid driver’s license.
