Electrical Field Forensic Engineer – Full-time – Tampa, FL – $80,000–$120,000

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides expert forensic analysis to clients on engineering projects.
  • Serve as Engineer of Record for Associate Engineers.
  • Provides honest and unbiased analysis and consultation on failures.
  • May provide appraisals on structures and equipment as needed.
  • Travel within standard regional boundaries and potentially other regions as required.
  • Consistently meet or exceed performance metrics.
  • Writes and submits detailed reports on completed projects timely.
  • Communicates with customers to provide timelines and updates.
  • Can provide expert testimony and/or depositions as needed.
  • Works flexible schedule, additional hours during peak demand.
  • Provides excellent customer service internally and externally.
  • Proactively pursues additional training, mentoring, education, certifications.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Active registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the state of application; multiple licenses preferred.
  • Willing to obtain additional state licensure as needed; fees paid by company.
  • Eligible to obtain NCEES record promptly.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering.
  • Prior forensic experience preferred.
  • Expert testimony or deposition experience preferred.
  • Adaptable, willing to learn new skills and techniques.
  • Highly organized, fast turnaround.
  • Handles multiple projects and high‑stress periods.
  • Completes at least two hours of specialized litigation training annually.
  • Hands‑on engineering experience in structural/mechanical/electrical investigations.
  • Willing to climb roofs, crawl tight spaces.
  • Follows Donan’s Safety Protocol and JSA guidelines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Team‑oriented, service‑oriented.
  • Superior customer service skills.
  • Proficient in computers and technical tools.
  • Ethical, honest business conduct.
  • Experience writing detailed reports preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable record.
  • Valid high‑speed internet access at remote office.
  • Willingness to work remotely and from home office.
  • Pre‑employment physical standards met.
  • Willing to travel and flexible schedule.
  • Can work efficiently with minimal supervision.
Physical Requirements
  • Stand for prolonged periods.
  • Lift or move objects weighing 50–100 lbs.
  • Climb onto first‑ and second‑story roofs, ascend/descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps.
  • Balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl.
  • Reach with hands and arms.
  • Drive vehicle for extended periods.
