Role In Summary
Whirlpool is seeking a qualified candidate for an Electrical Engineer opening on the Process Transformation (PT) team located in Clyde, OH. The position works closely with North American manufacturing facilities and PT Fabrication Engineers to define capital purchases from specification through handoff to the manufacturing facility and identify flexible design and process parameters to meet customer needs.
Your Responsibilities- Oversight of electrical controls and design layout of new automated equipment.
- Oversight of safety processes and regulation of new equipment and installations.
- Oversight of end‑of‑line testing equipment PLC‑based.
- Assist in maintaining and updating safety, programming, robotic, and electrical standards.
- Assist in new capital acquisition RFP/RFQ and vendor selection process.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
- 5+ years of automation and controls experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Hands‑on experience in a heavily automated production environment.
- Strong interpersonal and team‑building skills.
- In‑depth knowledge of laundry appliance fabrication manufacturing processes.
- Demonstrated ability to gather input from key stakeholders and gain their buy‑in.
- Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs, relay logic, Fanuc and ABB robot interfaces.
- Experience with electrical control design and drawings using AutoCAD.
- Experience in risk assessment for equipment process and safety circuit design and validation (functional safety for equipment).
- Experience with instrumentation and other product testing equipment.
- Understanding of NFPA, ANSI, OSHA codes and regulations.
- Familiarity with pneumatic and hydraulic circuits.
- Ability to travel and meet with equipment suppliers at other Whirlpool facilities.
- Strong communication, presentation, and team skills at all organizational levels.
- Self‑starter with excellent project management and time‑management skills.
