The rapid growth of AI and digitalization is fuelling unprecedented demand for data centres that require large, reliable sources of energy. In response, the Renewables & Clean Power (R&CP) team has an early works contract to build one of the largest gas-fired power generation facilities in the U.S. Our team supports early-stage development leading to full EPC delivery in 2026.

The candidate will act as the Startup I&C Lead on the Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) Project in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The candidate may start in the Reston, VA home office to support planning before mobilizing to the field for a long-term assignment in Cheyenne. This position is contingent upon project award.

The Startup I&C Lead assists the Commissioning Manager in managing and supervising the I&C CSU activities at the project. The individual is responsible for planning and execution of the startup, commissioning, and initial operation of the I&C systems and equipment. The lead will manage I&C commissioning, including assigning systems and responsibilities to the I&C startup engineers, coordinating with electrical, mechanical, and other functional departments to complete tests from component level to integrated operation.

• Assists in preparation of project estimates.
• Coordinates with project management for startup-related engineering, construction, client activities at the office or jobsite.
• Directs the preparation of portions of or assists in the preparation of operations manuals.
• Conducts execution planning for assigned scope through scoping, plans, procedures, schedules, and budgets.
• Sets up progress reporting framework for the scope area and reviews with the team, applying proactive course corrections as needed.
• Develops and evaluates plans and criteria within the discipline for various project activities.
• Interprets new or special regulations, codes, standards, criteria and performance data related to the specialty.
• Supervises, coordinates, and reviews the work of engineers; estimates staffing needs, schedules, and assigns work to meet deadlines.
• Provides technical advice and resolves technical questions in the area of specialty.
• Prepares system testing and turnover documentation.
• Supports the training group in developing training materials for classroom and on-the-job training of client personnel.
• Prepares system preoperational test procedures and completes testing per Bechtel standards (STCP and SWPP) and related procedures.
• Prepares preventative maintenance procedures and schedules for commissioned equipment.
• Applies knowledge of industry and regulatory standards to develop test plans and procedures for I&C systems.
• Performs I&C work in accordance with corporate procedures and guidance.
• Uses strong interpersonal skills to work with client management and operations personnel.

• Requires bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.

• Relevant experience delivering large-scale combined cycle power projects.
• Broad knowledge of industry and regulatory standards and facilities’ operations criteria for the activities supervised.
