Mechanical Engineer - Operations

Overview

Job Overview: A small, established manufacturing company is seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineer for an operations-focused role. This position requires close collaboration with engineers, operations teams, vendors, and shop employees to ensure timely material deliveries and support smooth production processes. You will also interact with customers and upper management, helping drive cost savings, efficiency, and innovation.

• Conduct extensive research to identify cost-effective products, materials, and sourcing solutions.
• Stay up to date with current market trends and pricing.
• Coordinate all activities related to the procurement of materials and supplies.
• Oversee project progression through Asana.
• Meet and negotiate with vendors and suppliers.
• Coordinate shop activities with Production Engineer
• Draft, review, and maintain contracts and accurate records.
• Analyze and solve problems using strong mathematical and analytical skills.
• Use Microsoft Word and Excel programs proficiently for documentation and reporting.
• Communicate effectively with internal teams, vendors, and stakeholders.
• Maintain a strong technical understanding of commonly purchased materials.
• Experience in project management is highly desirable.

• Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
• Experience with ERP systems, a plus.
• Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Must have worked for capital equipment industry for 7 years.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen or authorized to work in the U.S.
• Must reside within the New Jersey area or within commuting distance.
