Overview
GEI’s California Water resources practice is growing, and we are seeking a Structural Engineer to join our Rancho Cordova office. The role supports GEI’s company wide Structural/Geo‑Structural practice and focuses on water resource projects such as dams, spillways, pump stations, pipelines, canals, and water recharge.
Responsibilities- Support senior staff on engineering projects related to water resource facilities and hydraulic structures.
- Perform structural analysis and design of hydraulic structures including dams, levees, flood control, hydroelectric facilities, and related projects.
- Develop design calculations, permit documents, and technical reports.
- Prepare construction drawings, technical specifications, cost estimates, and bid documents.
- Assist with project plans, schedules, budgets, and proposal preparation.
- Collaborate with senior project managers and technical staff across the company.
- Travel to project sites and other offices as required, including overnight travel.
- B.S. degree in Structural or Civil Engineering; M.S./Ph.D. preferred.
- 0–3 years of professional experience in Civil Engineering and Water Resources related fields.
- EIT Certification strongly preferred but not required.
- Excellent computer skills and proficiency with MS Office, AutoCAD, and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Strong theoretical background in earthquake/seismic engineering and finite element modeling; experience with SAP
2000, LS DYNA, or ANSYS. - Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to work independently and in a team.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to site locations as needed.
