Foresight is an equal opportunity employer committed to building a diverse and inclusive team. We are currently seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our Austin office. This leadership role offers the opportunity to shape the future of our geotechnical services while mentoring emerging talent and delivering impactful infrastructure solutions.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIESTECHNICAL LEADERSHIP

  • Lead geotechnical engineering projects from planning through execution, ensuring compliance with TxDOT and industry standards.
  • Develop geotechnical design recommendations (e.g., slope stability, foundation design, subgrade stabilization).
  • Review and approve geotechnical reports, boring logs, and lab data summaries.
  • Ensure quality control through peer reviews and technical audits.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT

  • Define and manage project scopes, schedules, and budgets.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate geotechnical solutions into broader designs.
  • Oversee field investigations, ensuring safety and data quality.
  • Track project performance and prepare progress reports.
CLIENT ENGAGEMENT AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, including TxDOT, municipalities, and private sector partners.
  • Lead proposal and RFQ/RFP preparation efforts.
  • Participate in client interviews and presentations.
  • Represent Foresight at industry conferences and networking events.


TEAM LEADER SHIP AND MENTORSHIP

  • Provide daytoday guidance, support, and mentorship to geotechnical staff at all levels.
  • Review timesheets and conduct performance reviews for geotechnical team members assigned to you.
  • Lead internal training and knowledge sharing sessions.
  • Foster and promote a collaborative, inclusive, and growth oriented team culture.
STRATEGIC AND ORGANIZATIONAL CONTRIBUTIONS

  • Contribute to the development of internal standards and best practices.
  • Stay informed on emerging trends, technologies, and regulatory changes.
  • Support longterm planning and diversification of geotechnical services.
QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION AND LICENSURE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (required).
  • Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering (preferred).
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Texas (required).
EXPERIENCE

  • 15+ years of geotechnical engineering experience.
  • Experience managing TxDOT transportation projects.
  • Proven project management skills (scope, schedule, budget).
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams.
  • Business development experience, including proposals, presentations, and contract negotiations.
TECHNICAL EXPERTISE

  • Proficient in geotechnical software (e.g., FPS
    21, DARWin, TxCRCPME, Win Core, MSEW, Slope/W, PLAXIS).
  • Strong background in soil mechanics and foundational analysis.
  • Skilled in field and lab testing, instrumentation, and data interpretation (FWD, GPR, DCP).
  • Ability to develop and review geotechnical design recommendations and technical reports.
SOFT SKILLS

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration abilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership, initiative, and independent problem solving.

The selected candidate will primarily perform office duties at Foresight’s Austin headquarters, located at 13805 Research Blvd, Suite 200, Austin, Texas 78750. A hybrid work-from-home arrangement may be available, depending on project needs and team coordination.
