The rapid growth of AI and digitalization is fuelling unprecedented demand for data centres that require large, reliable sources of energy. In response to this market trend, the Renewables & Clean Power (R&CP) team have signed an early works contract to build one of the largest gas fired power generation facilities in the U.S. Our team is helping the customer progress early-stage development, that would lead to the start of full EPC delivery in 2026.
The candidate will act as the Startup Mechanical Lead on the Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) Project in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The candidate may start in the home office in Reston-VA to support planning, ahead of project mobilization to the field, when the candidate will locate on a long-term assignment to the project in Cheyenne, Wyoming. This position is contingent upon project award.
Job SummaryThe Startup Mechanical Lead assists the Commissioning Manager in managing and supervising the mechanical CSU activities at the project. The individual is responsible for planning and executing the startup, commissioning, and initial operation of the mechanical systems and equipment at the project. The lead will be responsible for managing mechanical commissioning, including assigning systems and responsibilities to the mechanical startup engineers under his/her direction.
This will require coordinating with electrical, instrumentation and control systems disciplines and other functional departments to complete all required testing from component level through integrated operation with the rest of the facility. #LI-VB1
- Assists in preparation of project estimates.
- Coordinates, as directed, with project management, the startup related engineering, construction, and client activities as an office assignment or during startup, operations, maintenance or testing at the jobsite.
- Directs the preparation of portions of or assists in the preparation of operations manuals.
- Conducts execution planning for assigned scope through scoping, plans, procedures, schedules, and budgets.
- Sets up progress reporting framework for scope area, and reviews on an ongoing basis with team, taking proactive course corrections as necessary.
- Develops and evaluates plans and criteria within the discipline or specialty for a variety of project activities.
- Interprets new or special regulations, codes, standards, criteria and performance data relating to the specialty.
- Preparation of system testing and turnover documentation.
- Provides assistance to the training group on the project in the development of training program material intended for classroom and OJT training of client personnel.
- Prepares system preoperational test procedures for assigned systems. Completes testing per Bechtel Standard Test and Commissioning Procedures (STCP) and Standard Work Process Procedures (SWPP), pre-op procedures and other specific procedures which may be required to be prepared in this position.
- Prepares preventative maintenance procedures and schedules for maintaining equipment once it has been commissioned.
