Senior Telecommunications Engineer

Base pay range$/yr – $/yr
OverviewJacobs challenges the status quo by solving critical problems for cities, environments and science. This role focuses on designing and leading the technical design of low‑voltage systems (structured cabling, wireless, audio‑visual, and other low‑voltage) for data center buildings. The Senior Telecommunications Engineer works with a Department Manager or Lead Engineer and participates in the entire design process from preliminary assessment to final sign‑off, while mentoring team members and managing stakeholder relationships.
Responsibilities- Lead BIM designers in preparation of engineering drawings
- Create or modify DIV 27 specifications
- Conduct site visits and review technical documents
- Mentor junior team members and coordinate with cross‑discipline teams
- Sign and seal telecommunications design packages
- Identify and implement process improvements with the lead engineer or department manager
- Electrical Engineering or Communication Engineering bachelor’s degree (ABET accredited)
- At least 8 years of experience designing or leading structured cabling systems
- Proficiency with ANSI/TIA, BICSI, NFPA 70 standards
- Experience with Bluebeam
- Strong project management skills and ability to coordinate with project managers, clients, and other disciplines
- Experience responding to RFPs, QA/QC of telecommunications systems, startup/commissioning, budgeting, scheduling, and risk mitigation
- Professional Engineer (PE) license; ability to obtain additional PE licenses is required
- 4+ years of telecommunications design experience in data centers
- Experience with other low‑voltage systems (security, audio/visual, wireless)
- Working knowledge of Revit and Navisworks
- Knowledge of CSI or AIA specification writing procedures
- Credential as an RCDD
