Overview

Project Manager - Mission Critical (REMOTE) role  position focuses on Mission Critical Data Center projects within the Community Development Group. The candidate will work directly with clients to implement and manage project design and construction administration, and will coordinate and lead project teams focused on civil site design services for private data center projects.

Your Opportunity

Stantec is seeking a Project Manager focusing on Mission Critical Data Center projects. You will have the opportunity to work on Data Center projects of various sizes across the country. The Mission Critical space requires a proactive, responsive, and efficient design team with projects serving Fortune 10 companies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams to undertake site development projects related to planning, design and engineering. Client types include private developers, general contractors, and architects.
  • Be a motivated, enthusiastic, flexible, innovative, organized team member with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrate strong interest in the Mission Critical / Data Center market and major commercial projects.
  • Serve as a responsive partner with excellent communication skills.
  • Be proactive, solution-oriented, and work well within a cooperative team environment.
  • Adjust to dynamic project needs on tight timelines and fast-paced schedules.
  • Coordinate with a geographically dispersed team and operate with virtual coordination.
  • Understand civil engineering concepts (e.g., site layout, grading, utility design) and communicate ideas effectively.
  • Manage and lead technical work depending on project scope/size.
  • Handle large projects of high complexity; liaise with clients and sub-consultants to meet needs in a timely and effective manner.
  • Lead project coordination meetings with internal team members and external consultants.
  • Review, markup, and coordinate delivery of documentation for site plans, utility plans, grading plans, stormwater systems, and other components.
  • Participate and collaborate in project team settings and engage in creative and critical thought.
  • Understand the land development process and communicate ideas clearly.
  • Assist design team in creating sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visuals.
  • Assist with proposal development, interviews, and presentations.
  • Market and support client growth throughout North America.
  • Utilize technologies to develop three-dimensional models of civil systems and provide markups for junior engineers/designers.
  • Develop and manage project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule.
  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control on own projects and peers’ projects.
  • Assist in developing new standards and processes for the team.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Strong understanding of all phases of project document production.
  • Strong knowledge of civil systems means and methods, materials, and industry standards.
  • Ability to lead one or more teams through all phases of project document production.
  • Checks the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manages time to meet project budget and schedule.
  • Participates and collaborates in project team settings and engages in creative and critical thought.
  • Advanced understanding of civil engineering concepts and ability to communicate ideas to others.
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective communicator and able to work on and lead teams.
  • Efficient project management of multiple concurrent projects.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant design software.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Planning, or related field
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience
