Systems Engineer

Overview

Position: Systems Engineer (09290) (2 Roles).
Location: Remote

Description: The System Engineer manages, designs, implements, and optimizes Nutanix infrastructure. The Engineer applies solid working knowledge and skills to deliver a secure, fault tolerant, scalable, and flexible Hyperconverged infrastructure for Client’s operations. The role also supports and troubleshoots Nutanix and backup problems, and coordinates implementations with client staff and vendor personnel. This includes contributing to Client’s server and application technology strategy and participating in product evaluation and selection.

• Support, install, maintain, and troubleshoot issues related to Nutanix infrastructure and related software.
• Coordinate with vendors to troubleshoot and repair outages.
• Ensure proper patch levels on hardware and software.
• Monitor infrastructure for failures and performance problems.
• Maintain technical architecture documentation for client’s infrastructure.
• Recommends hardware upgrades and coordinates installation activities.
• Collaborate with business owners to complete Nutanix project requirements.
• Participate in business continuity planning for infrastructure.
• Rotate On-Call support responsibility.
• Support security policies, practices, and guidelines for the Storage infrastructure.
• Tests and installs new software versions as required meeting business needs and using client best practices.
• Proactively collaborate cross-departmentally on projects.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience required.
• 3 years Nutanix experience required.
• 3 years of experience in large scale multisite enterprise infrastructure.
• Working knowledge of the appropriate hyperconverged and physical hardware.
• Understanding of hyperconverged backup and disaster recovery.
• History of balancing multiple priorities simultaneously with the ability to adapt to the changing needs of the business while meeting deadlines.
• Flexibility to work evening and weekend hours as necessary.
• Solid process documentation skills
• A+, Network+ preferred
• Nutanix Cloud Platform Certification preferred
