Overview

Construction Project Manager (CPM), North America EV Charging Solutions – Amazon is looking for a Construction Project Manager (CPM) who will be responsible for the design and construction of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across Amazon facilities in the US. This role covers design management and construction execution of EV charging infrastructure, including power distribution systems and charging stations. The CPM oversees the design and construction process from project inception through handover, ensuring compliance with Amazon standards, local codes, and project-specific requirements.

Projects focus on EV charger installations, electrical distribution, and service upgrades. The CPM performs deep-dive reviews of designs, budgets, and schedules to identify and resolve discrepancies, including information in consultant and contractor bid packages. They also manage design and construction related change orders and value engineering processes to optimize outcomes and identify cost-saving opportunities.

Construction Project Managers partner with internal customers and external stakeholders (including utility companies, contractors, charging equipment manufacturers, and design consultants) to build trusted partnerships and deliver results. The CPM serves as Amazon’s representative and primary interface with Developers, Contractors, Utilities, Electrical Contractors, Equipment Vendors, and Design Consultants, and as the main integrator between design and construction teams and other Amazon stakeholders responsible for implementing, furnishing, and operating our EV charging network.

This opportunity combines design management, construction engineering, planning, project management, facilities management, and contract management.

This role involves significant interaction across functional teams and a remote work arrangement with travel requirements, supporting multiple locations as needed.

• Directly responsible for EV charging project implementation.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ranging from smaller renovations to large facilities ($30M+), with an EV charging focus; this expectation applies to all Amazon construction project managers.
• Advise business on the impact of changes in schedule, costs, and permitting.
• Manage design and construction scope, cost, and schedule; coordinate with internal technical teams and operational customers.
• Survey facilities, audit procedures and labor efficiency; recommend solutions to infrastructure, safety, and security problems.
• Negotiate contracts, internal and external changes, and formal documentation for approval.
• Ensure contracts are cost-effective and include appropriate Service Level Agreements.
• Assess project performance through KPIs for safety, quality, cost, schedule, and sustainability.
• Lead project teams (architects, consultants, contractors, vendors, stakeholders) throughout the project lifecycle with site management, coordination, and planning.
• Identify and resolve clashes, design misses, and schedule conflicts with execution teams.
• Review design and construction for conformance; identify value engineering opportunities.
• Comprehensive budget tracking, forecasting, and management of assigned projects.
• Lead discussions with regulatory bodies.
• Maintain positive, clear, concise, and transparent cross-team communication.
• Remote role with up to 60% regional travel; potential travel to all North America locations based on business needs.

Your day may include reviewing schedules and RFIs for EV charger projects, site visits, documenting progress, and solving problems such as conduit routing conflicts or equipment delivery delays. Afternoons may involve contract negotiations or payment application reviews. You’ll balance questions, clarify design intent, lead OAC meetings, and keep stakeholders informed. Some days involve back-to-back meetings across teams, while others are spent troubleshooting charger commissioning.

The role is remote, with frequent travel to construction sites.
