RoleStructural Engineer (Concrete & Core Structural Systems)

Role DescriptionRoss Engineering & Design PLLC is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer with a strong background in concrete construction and core structural systems. This is a contract position with flexibility for on-site and remote work, based in Helena, Montana.
The Structural Engineer will be responsible for the analysis, design, and documentation of structural systems for commercial and residential projects, with a particular focus on reinforced concrete, foundations, slabs, retaining structures, and load-bearing assemblies.
Responsibilities- Produce structural calculations,
- Prepare stamped construction documents,
- Review shop drawings,
- Collaborate closely with owners, contractors, and design teams,
- Conduct site visits, in-person client reporting, and job-site evaluations to verify constructability, address field conditions, and support successful project execution.
- $125 paid hourly, based on project and client workload. Payments are made net 30 to contractor. Can invoice bi-weekly.
- Performance bonuses tied to quarterly profit distribution plan. Pay based on 5% - 10% of net profits on projects as lead structural designer.

All IRS deductible business travel expenses are reimbursed 7 days after a completed and approved expense report.
- 5–10 years of professional structural engineering experience, with demonstrated expertise in:
- Reinforced concrete design (foundations, slabs, subgrade, walls, columns, retaining systems)
- Gravity and lateral load-resisting systems
- Structural steel and wood framing integration, structural glulam beam design
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Montana (required)
- Strong competency in structural modeling and analysis
- Geotechnical coordination and site-specific considerations
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and/or comparable structural drafting and modeling software
- Ability to produce complete construction and as-built drawing sets, including construction notes and field clarifications
- Experience preparing and reviewing structural calculations, shop drawings and submittals
- Solid understanding of applicable building codes, standards, and regulatory requirements
- Strong project management and coordination skills, including schedule awareness and efficiency reviews
- Familiarity with LiDAR and drone-based surveying via point cloud data set upload is a plus
- Experience interpreting and supporting project bids, RFPs, and RFBs across multiple delivery methods is preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering or a closely related field
- High attention to detail, sound engineering judgment, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams
