OverviewFuss & O’Neill is seeking a Senior Bridge Engineer to play a key technical and leadership role within our growing bridge practice in Vermont. This position offers the opportunity to lead complex bridge design and rehabilitation projects, contribute technical expertise across a wide range of structural challenges, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on high-profile transportation initiatives. - Serve as a technical lead for the planning, design, analysis, rehabilitation, and inspection of highway and pedestrian bridges
- Prepare and oversee development of bridge design plans, specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports
- Perform and/or review structural analyses, load ratings, and design calculations in accordance with AASHTO and state DOT standards
- Lead and mentor junior engineers and support staff, fostering technical excellence and professional development
- Coordinate with clients, DOTs, municipalities, and multidisciplinary project teams
- Participate in bridge inspections and condition evaluations as required
- Support project management activities including scope development, scheduling, budgeting, and quality control
- Contribute to business development efforts including proposals, client relationships, and technical presentations
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in ME, NH, or VT (or ability to acquire within 6 months)
- 8+ years of bridge engineering and structural design experience
- Strong knowledge of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications (preferred)
- Experience with state DOT bridge programs and standards
- Proficiency with bridge design and analysis software
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to lead technical tasks and collaborate across disciplines
- Experience with bridge rehabilitation and inspection programs (preferred)
- Prior project management or task leadership experience (preferred)
