As Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will drive the successful specification, selection, design, and performance of equipment for manufacturing sites as well as coach and train other engineers and technical resources. This position will build and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders to effectively implement capital equipment, drive productivity results, optimize value, and promote growth. This role interacts with individuals from Manufacturing, Engineering, Continuous Improvement, Procurement, and other key Business Units within the Supply Chain.
This role will also work directly with the manufacturing sites to develop, modify, and implement plans for equipment improvement as well as with equipment OEM’s on their equipment offerings and designs.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering; a master’s degree in mechanical engineering is a plus. Other engineering disciplines will be considered with relevant experience. This individual will also have experience with the design of manufacturing equipment and equipment modifications, developing new equipment specifications, leading design reviews, and developing and executing capital projects in a manufacturing environment.
A candidate with Food and Beverage or CPG (Consumer Package Goods) and plant production line experience is considered a strong plus. Knowledge of high-speed filling, packaging technologies are ideal areas of expertise.

Responsibilities:- Determine root cause physics of failure and provide recommended corrective actions
- Provide facilitation for DFMEA, FMEA, and similar activities.
- Write machine specifications with input from stakeholders
- Participate in technical design reviews to assess project status and design readiness.
- Approval of equipment design, development, and execution
- Define performance criteria, aid with schedules and capital budgets
- Define key process parameters and testing methods with the Packaging Engineering team
- Provide criteria for acceptance testing of equipment
- Provide technical project assistance to project managers and plant personnel
- Drive Technical knowledge/documentation management and department communication/deliverables
- Optimization of vertical startup methodologies
- MSA and SOW development with Procurement and Legal
- Drive lean and standard work principles to ensure team/department efficiencies
- Build strategic relationships and communications with internal customers, stakeholders, and external Partners.
This individual will travel primarily to North American operations and sometimes internationally, up to 75% of weeks. We work hard to operate remotely as much as possible and to reduce unnecessary travel.

Total Rewards:- Salary Range: $96,800 - $169,000 / year.

- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering; other engineering disciplines will be considered with relevant experience

- 10+ years of engineering experience, preferably in packaging equipment
- Self-motivated, highly energetic, and able to drive multiple projects simultaneously
- Past machine design experience and knowledge of machine shop practices
