Senior Electrical Engineer – Mission Critical
Location: Baltimore, Maryland (Hybrid)
A well-established, Maryland-based engineering consulting firm is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to support and help lead its Mission Critical practice. This is a high-impact, technical leadership role within a stable, mid-sized firm known for complex infrastructure and critical facility projects.
About the PracticeThe Mission Critical group supports a diverse portfolio of advanced facilities, including data centers, critical infrastructure, federal work, utilities, healthcare, and education. The team consists of approximately 12–14 professionals across electrical, mechanical, and multidisciplinary engineering.
This role is intended for a senior technical contributor with the depth of experience to guide design decisions, mentor engineers, and support project execution on complex systems.
Key Responsibilities- Lead electrical system design for mission critical facilities, including:
- Medium- and low-voltage power distribution
- Emergency and standby power systems
- UPS systems and critical power infrastructure
- Grounding, bonding, and power quality
- Perform and review detailed electrical calculations and studies
- Utilize power system analysis tools (SKM and/or ETAP) for load flow, short circuit, and coordination studies
- Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) within the electrical discipline
- Mentor and train junior and mid-level engineers
- Support project management activities, including coordination with internal teams and external stakeholders
- Collaborate closely with mechanical, structural, and architectural disciplines
- 10–20 years of electrical engineering experience
, with a strong focus in mission critical environments - Demonstrated ability to lead complex electrical designs and guide less-experienced engineers
- Experience working in consulting engineering environments
- Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred
, but not required - Proficiency with:
- Revit
- AutoCAD
- SKM and/or ETAP
- Hybrid schedule (approximately 2 days work-from-home)
- Compressed workweek:
- 4-hour Friday
- Base salary range: $130,000 – $190,000
