Safety Systems Engineer
We are seeking a Safety Systems Engineer with a passion for ensuring flight safety and airworthiness. This role offers the opportunity to work on challenging projects that directly impact aviation safety in a fully remote setting. You will be part of a well-established engineering firm that specializes in safety-critical systems for the aviation industry.
Responsibilities- Perform system and aircraft-level safety assessments in accordance with ARP
4761 / ARP
4761A. - Develop and maintain safety artifacts, including Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA / AFHA), Fault Tree Analyses (FTA), Common Cause Analyses (CCA / CMA), and System Safety Assessments (SSA).
- Support safety aspect derivation and allocation to system and subsystem requirements.
- Collaborate with systems, software, hardware, and certification engineers to ensure safety objectives are correctly implemented.
- Provide safety analysis support for Part 23 aircraft and general aviation avionics systems.
- Participate in design reviews to evaluate safety impacts of architectural and functional changes.
- Support certification audits and data generation activities as required.
- Performing safety assessments under ARP
4761 with at least 3 years of strong hands‑on experience. - Experience creating FTA, CMA, and SSA deliverables.
- Experience in aviation or aerospace systems safety engineering.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience supporting Part 23 aircraft programs or general aviation platforms.
- Experience working with FAA or EASA certification projects.
- Prior exposure to avionics, flight controls, propulsion, or aircraft systems safety.
- Comfortable working in distributed, remote engineering teams.
This is a fully remote position. You will be provided with a home setup to support your work. You will have the flexibility to work from anywhere, contributing to general aviation programs and making a deep technical contribution to system and aircraft safety.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Phoenix, AZ.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $110000.00 - $130000.00/hr.
