Job Description
As a Civil Designer, you will provide technical support to engineers by creating designs based on engineering scope and specifications. You will prepare detailed drawings in accordance with company standards and specifications for use in modification or construction of natural gas compressor stations, meter & regulation facilities, valve settings, and launcher & catcher facilities. You will communicate with internal business partners to determine needs and level of satisfaction, report on project status, establish priorities, estimate time required to complete work assignments, and maintain knowledge of applicable technologies.
You will assist in the development and implementation of company design standards and specifications and support the Management of Change process.
Civil Designer
Responsibilities- Prepare detailed Construction Workspace Plans, Excavation Hazard Maps, MAOP Maps, Easement Exhibits, Alignment Sheets, HDD Plan & Profile, and Staking files.
- Ensure auditable documents are consistent and complete.
- Work alongside other groups within the organization to design and deploy process improvement initiatives.
- Improve processes related to drawing databases, forms/data management, and AutoCAD Applications.
- Specialize in one or more focus areas, such as mapping, pipeline design, or class location studies.
- Prepare maps required to support FERC filings and obtain permits from state agencies.
- Associates or Technical Degree
- 5+ years of experience with Civil 3D
- Proficiency in grading and drainage
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Understanding of survey points/elevation points
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in technical field or equivalent experience
- Experience in the natural gas industry
- Ability to communicate technical information effectively
- Familiarity with mapping and piping design, mechanical design, or electrical design
- Knowledge of Federal regulations and Industry standards, including CFR DOT 192 and API 5L
The work environment involves a hybrid schedule, with four days in the office and work-from-home Fridays. You will be reporting to the headquarters in Owensboro. The initial two weeks on the role will be on-site. This position operates in an engineering firm environment with business casual attire. You will work cross-functionally with other designers, engineers, and surveyors, primarily collaborating with metering & regulation engineers and fellow civil designers.
The team consists of 20 members, including surveyors, mappers, electrical engineers, and civil designers. Projects are organized by discipline and tracked in Excel, typically involving 3-4 projects per week.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Owensboro, KY.
Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $24.00 - $34.00/hr.
