Job Description Summary
As a contributing member of the LOCA, Containment & Stability Analysis Team, you will perform safety analysis for plant thermal-hydraulic stability, plant noise, Power Range Neutron Monitor (PRNM) stability interface, and other analyses supporting reload applications for Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) plants, including currently operating BWR plants as well as new plants (BWRX, Natrium) operating or planned worldwide.
Job Description Essential ResponsibilitiesPerform plant thermal-hydraulic stability analyses, plant noise analyses, PRNM stability interface, and other safety analyses with general expertise in two-phase thermal hydraulic analysis techniques.
Take responsibility for fuel project activities including reload analyses, Stability methods implementation, new fuel design and introduction, and safety analysis support for emergent fuel issues.
Perform in cross-disciplinary settings, engage with interfacing teams responsible for mechanical design, core design, licensing, systems design, or other affiliated organizations to find optimum customer solutions.
Effectively communicate and coordinate activities with internal and external project managers, technical personnel, and customers on technical issues.
Prepare, document and present technical data to internal/external customers.
Provide technical mentoring to support Stability Analysis staff development and knowledge management, including procedure development and adherence.
Develop/deliver training course offerings in support of external commercial requests, as well as for internal audiences for knowledge management, and knowledge capture and transfer.
Contribute to team process improvements to drive speed and simplification.
Ensure work is performed with high quality in accordance with regulatory rules and regulations, customer requirements, and business quality assurance standards.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Discipline (Nuclear, Mechanical, Chemical, or similar) from an accredited college or university.
Minimum 5 years of experience in plant T-H Stability Safety Analysis and Methods.
The preferred work location for this role is at the GVH Headquarters in Wilmington, NC; but highly qualified (US based) remote candidates will be considered.
This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
Experience in BWR Plant T-H Stability analyses, plant noise analyses, PRNM stability interface, stability setpoints methodology, and frequency and time domain methodologies.
Ph.D. and/or M.S. Degree in Nuclear Engineering with experience in T-H modeling as applied to nuclear reactor systems.
Experience with BWR technology and BWR Stability analysis to support applicable regulatory requirements.
Knowledge of plant operational support in the Stability area.
Knowledge of reactor licensing requirements.
Experience with BWR simulator and use of 3-D neutron kinetics (e.g., PANAC).
Experience with BWR/PWR T/H systems codes such as TRACG, RELAP, & TRACE.
Programming experience such as C#, FORTRAN, or PYTHON.
