The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is looking for full time Senior Systems Engineer, (GG-0801-14), at Kirkland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
This position is a Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS) position aligned under authorities of Section 1601, Chapter 83 of Title 10, United States Code and DoD Instruction 1400.25-V2007.
Salary ($148,275- $197,200) based on experience.

The primary purpose of this position is:
This is a multi-service staff assignment within the scope of the Office of the Secretary of Defense. Serves as a General Engineer in and reports to the Director of Plans, Policy, and Advanced Technology. Identifies and assesses advanced technologies that can be applied to sensor-to-sensor cueing systems, sensor-to-shooter weapon systems, and integral supporting procedures, with particular emphasis on high value, time sensitive targets (TST’s).
Assesses system engineering of DoD C4
ISR systems. Assessments are top-down approaches to design, development and deployment of C4
ISR systems to meet the effective needs of the Armed Forces. Develops a technology roadmap identifying critical technologies that enhance current sensitive US C4
ISR sensor-to-shooter systems and initiatives.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) Security Clearance.
- Drug Testing:
This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Testing Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. - A professional engineering degree at the bachelor’s level from an ABET accredited institution is required in a related professional engineering discipline such as electrical, electronics, mechanical, computer or software engineering.
- Knowledge of advanced concepts, principles, and practices of physics and engineering to serve as an expert in evaluating emerging technological advances on warfighter effectiveness, to include sensor-to-sensor cueing systems, sensor-to shooter strike systems and integral supporting procedures.
- Knowledge of security management and acquisition procedures to include knowledge of applicable statutes, executive branch and DoD policy.
- Management and leadership skills to manage, plan, organize, direct and control diverse AFRCO-FSU and DoD sponsored initiatives.
- Skill in formulating, directing, interpreting and assessing advanced technologies applied to sensor-to-sensor cueing systems, sensor-to-shooter strike systems and integral supporting procedures, with emphasis on high value, time-sensitive targets.
- Knowledge of management of scientific and engineering programs sufficient to coordinate program activities of diverse organization staffs comprising professional disciplines including operations research, system analysis and several fields of engineering and physics.
- Incumbent may be subject to a counterintelligence scope polygraph.
- Incumbent is required to file an OGE Form 450, Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, upon appointment and will be required to file annually.
