Overview
Create cost estimates for specific disciplines related to large capital construction projects. Provide business support to management and guidance to junior staff, collaborate with the team on pricing and benchmarking research, and maintain project documents and files.
Responsibilities- Analyze blueprints and other documents to prepare detailed cost estimates.
- Perform accurate quantity takeoffs from design documents.
- Obtain up‑to‑date pricing information from databases, contractors, suppliers, etc., and use it in estimates.
- Input estimate takeoff information for specific disciplines and develop unit cost pricing.
- Work with engineers to clarify project scope during estimate preparation.
- Develop relationships with A/E firms and project team members.
- Assist senior staff in improving project efficiency and estimate accuracy.
- Maintain project documents (drawings, specifications) in an organized manner and keep files on the file server according to company standards.
- Update the data library of costs.
- Prepare cost reconciliations between estimates and explain variance cost drivers.

- Mechanical estimator experience
- At least seven years as an estimator in manufacturing and/or mechanical/electrical/process piping contracting.
- Bachelor's degree in construction, quantity surveying or related field.
- Seven years of relevant experience.
- Working knowledge of electronic takeoff and CAD Measure.
- Proficiency with commercially available construction cost estimating systems.
- Experience with IT tools including Internet, Intranet, Microsoft Windows, Adobe Acrobat, Office Suite, and Microsoft Project.
- Professional designation such as RICS, CCE, CCM, AIA, PE, ASPE, AACEI, CVS, AVS, LEED AP, RA, or similar licensure (preferred).
Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00–$60.00 per hour.
