Design Technician
Join a collaborative team of infrastructure design professionals as a Design Technician supporting a variety of civil, structural, and power delivery projects. This role can be based in Charlotte or Raleigh, NC and is ideal for individuals who enjoy hands‑on design work, problem‑solving, and contributing to essential public and utility infrastructure.
You’ll work closely with engineers and designers to develop high‑quality CADD/BIM drawings and models for substation, civil site, and structural components—making this a strong opportunity for someone looking to grow in multidisciplinary design.
Responsibilities- Preparing civil, structural, and substation drawings (plans, sections, elevations, site layouts, grading, foundations, conduit routing, and structural details)
- Developing 2D and 3D models in AutoCAD, Micro Station, or other design software
- Supporting design packages, documentation, and project coordination
- Assisting with updates, markups, and revisions from engineering teams
- Performing additional design or drafting tasks as needed across disciplines
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Micro Station
- Strong drafting, modeling, and general design skills
- Experience in civil, structural, electrical, or utility design (any concentration welcome)
- Ability to interpret engineering sketches, markups, and design standards
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
Note:
Candidates with experience in any infrastructure-related drafting (civil site, structural, utilities, transportation, etc.) are encouraged to apply.
- Associate degree, technical school training, or certification in CADD, drafting, engineering technology, or a related field
- Experience supporting design within utilities, infrastructure, industrial, or construction environments
- Familiarity with Micro Station, AutoCAD, InRoads, or other civil/structural design platforms
- Strong attention to detail and communication skills
- Local candidates preferred, but not required
This position is based in the local office with flexibility for hybrid/remote work. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Raleigh, NC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.
