This role is critical to the planning and integration of renewables, storage, and FACTS to the electrical grid and to perform large‑scale simulations of electrical transmission systems for clients such as power producers, independent system operators, and transmission providers to develop solutions for safe and reliable power system operations.
This is a remote position based in the Contiguous U.S.
You’ll make an impact as you:- Perform transmission planning through the application of power systems planning principles to simulate and analyze the power system steady state and dynamic behavior.
- Prepare detailed written reports describing analyses performed, conclusions, and recommendations.
- Work in small project teams, ensuring deliverables are of high quality and projects are completed within budget and schedule.
- Develop automation scripts to improve the speed and accuracy of simulations and analysis.
- Support proposal preparation by developing project plans, budgets, and timelines.
- Deliver on‑site technical consulting/training services.
Basic qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or higher with at least two years of professional experience in the electric power industry (beyond academia: professional power systems work at a consulting firm, utility, national lab, ISO, RTO, etc.).
- Candidate must have knowledge of transmission system planning or operations with experience analyzing power flow and dynamic stability using PSS®E, TARA, or TSAT in Transmission system planning and/or operations experience in MISO or SPP footprints—or PSCAD analysis experience in these or other regions (system‑wide analysis preferred).
- Ability to travel 10% domestically.
- Prior experience in Power System Consulting.
- Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power and Energy Systems.
