What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking a highly motivated Engineering Support Technologist to join our team to support high‑visibility, fast‑paced engineering and science activities for the B61 stockpile weapon system. The B61 Systems Engineering Department provides systems engineering leadership and stewardship for the B61‑3, ‑4, ‑7, ‑10, ‑11, ‑12 weapon systems. Our stockpile stewardship responsibilities include ensuring reliable weapon performance and surety over the full life‑cycle of the weapon system while enhancing our technical knowledge base.

Major projects within the department include partnership with the B61‑13, developing and implementing studies to improve the technical basis for Annual Assessments, executing lifetime sustainment program activities, and managing day‑to‑day system sustainment tasks. We work closely with external customers, stakeholders, partners and users, including NNSA, USAF, and domain specialists across the nuclear weapons complex. Our team utilizes system engineering tools, methodologies, and processes to support these efforts.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Manage the B61 hardware inventory using the ARAS system.
  • Oversee multiple B61 storage bunkers, including efforts to reduce B61 explosive inventory.
  • Build, manage, configure, and oversee development builds for B61 Joint Test Assemblies (JTAs) and contribute to prototype and development hardware builds for ongoing B61 projects.
  • Organize and supervise B61 lab space, including consolidating and configuring bay hardware, layout, and tools.
  • Update technical drawings and engineering documentation while providing oversight for JTA production work at KCNSC and PX, as well as creating and managing technical work procedures.
  • Collaborate closely with a dedicated team of technologist and engineers at KCNSC, PX, and SNL to deliver quality products in support of the B61 JTA mission.
  • Interface with NNSA and production agencies to manage hardware logistics for B61 JTAs and stockpile activities at PX.
  • Manage OTAs and related paperwork for the movement of B61 JTA/6D assets.
  • Apply analysis and problem‑solving techniques to production, stockpile evaluation, and maintenance activities.
  • Oversee and coordinate the disposition of units in 867 corporate storage.

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite. Occasional travel will be required.

Salary Range:

$63,800 - $123,400

* Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Associate degree in relevant field or equivalent education and experience.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in Hardware Lifecycle Management, such as:
  • Receiving and verifying hardware deliveries.
  • Managing inventory and tracking asset conditions.
  • Implementing checkout procedures for hardware allocation.
