Senior R&D Engineer
The Senior R&D Engineer will contribute to the design and optimization of our next-generation solar tracking systems through multivariable and multiphysics simulation, modeling, and optimization. You will work closely with the R&D team to build and refine models that capture mechanical, aerodynamic, and control interactions across the tracker system. This role blends computational mechanics, optimization, and data science in support of design decisions that improve performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
Responsibilities- Design and optimize solar tracking systems using multivariable and multiphysics simulation.
- Collaborate with the R&D team to develop models capturing mechanical, aerodynamic, and control interactions.
- Utilize computational mechanics, optimization, and data science to support design decisions.
- Conduct simulations and modeling using FEA, Matlab, Python, and Ansys to verify and optimize structural, mechanical, and aerodynamic components.
- Engage in mechanical design and analysis to enhance system performance and reliability.
- Proficiency in simulation software such as Matlab and Ansys.
- 2 - 4 years of experience in running models and simulations.
- Expertise in mechanical design and mechanical analysis.
- Experience with modeling and data science applications.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with Solidworks.
- Knowledge of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
- Familiarity with experimental validation.
- Experience with Labview is a plus.
This position offers a hybrid work environment, with on-site work required from Monday to Thursday and remote work on Fridays unless business needs dictate otherwise. The work environment is highly collaborative, contributing to the company's leadership in the solar tracker space and its growth within the renewable energy sector.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Fremont, CA.
Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $50.00 - $70.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
