As a Material Reinvent Product Engineer, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to evaluate, qualify, and optimize alternative materials for Solventum’s medical and drug devices. Your work will impact product performance, quality, and safety.

• Work with cross‑functional teams to identify, evaluate, and qualify alternative materials used in medical devices, combination devices, drug products, and components.
• Partner with R&D to reformulate or redesign input materials to enhance performance or quality characteristics.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, product stewardship, clinical, quality, and other global functions to pursue united goals.
• Engage with third‑party and internal manufacturing sites to facilitate qualifications.
• Manage confidential information internally and with third parties on a need‑to‑know basis.
• Lead or support major projects, maintain clear schedules, present status to stakeholders, and drive milestone attainment.

Minimum requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline AND at least seven (7) years of experience developing, supporting, or maintaining commercialized products in a private, public, government, or military environment.

OR

• High School Diploma/GED AND at least eleven (11) years of experience developing, supporting, or maintaining commercialized products in a private, public, government, or military environment.

Additional required qualification:

• Three (3) years of product and/or manufacturing experience in the medical device industry and/or medical device Quality Management Systems (QMS).

Desired qualifications:

• Knowledge of change management, qualification procedures (process validation, design verification), and creative problem‑solving.
• Project management experience leading cross‑functional teams.
• Experience collaborating with laboratory, quality, regulatory, and manufacturing functions.
• Statistical knowledge and practice (e.g., DOE, sampling, SPC, Lean Six Sigma).
• Significant experience supporting drug or combination products.
• Strong communication skills (written, oral, presentation) and systems proficiency.
• Material science/process competencies in adhesives, tapes, solution polymers, film extrusion/lamination, liners, or nonwoven materials.

Hybrid (some remote work allowed; travel required to either Maplewood, MN or Brookings, SD).

Up to 20% domestic or international.
