Job Title:

Supplier Quality Engineer - Equipment & Machines Job Description

The Supplier Quality Engineer will play a vital role in auditing new suppliers and determining their suitability for collaboration based on risk assessment. This position involves documenting audit results in a professional report to be shared with financial partners, guiding suppliers in implementing robust quality processes, and ensuring compliance through various quality requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Audit new suppliers and assess their risk level for potential collaboration.

  • Document audit results and prepare reports for financial partners.

  • Provide guidance and support to suppliers in implementing quality processes.

  • Complete quality requirement inputs into PPAPs, critical dimensions, and inspection check sheets.

  • Specify and validate inspection tools and gages for suppliers.

  • Develop process improvement strategies at supplier facilities using SPC data.

  • Monitor supplier quality performance indicators such as DPPMs and RMA rates.

  • Lead the resolution of critical supplier quality issues and corrective actions.

  • Guide and mentor suppliers to enhance their quality over time.

  • Implement and manage the supplier scorecard for performance measurement.

  • Drive and optimize inspection frequencies based on supplier quality outcomes.

  • Foster and manage the relationship between suppliers and internal teams regarding quality performance.

Essential Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in quality/manufacturing engineering or related field.

  • 2+ years of experience in quality engineering in a relevant industry.

  • Experience with heavy machinery and equipment.

  • Proficiency in quality engineering practices such as PPAP and root cause analysis.

  • Strong analytical skills using Excel and SPC tools like Minitab.

  • Experience in auditing manufacturing facilities per ISO 9001 QMS.

  • Knowledge of GD&T tolerancing, AQL inspection, and zero defects philosophy.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Nashville, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $44.57 - $60.10/hr.
