Role DescriptionThis is a full-time remote position for a Quality Assurance/Research & Development Manager. This role involves overseeing research and development (R&D) initiatives, managing quality assurance processes, and leading project developments. The manager will also collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, provide direction, and support team members to achieve organizational and project goals. Other responsibilities include analyzing research data, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring industry standards and regulatory compliance are met.
Key Responsibilities R&D Formulation & Development- Develop, test, and optimize new polymer-based mixtures, formulations, and materials.
- Conduct lab-scale trials, prototype testing, and scale-up formulations for production.
- Evaluate raw materials and competitive products to improve existing formulas.
- Stay updated with industry innovations to enhance material performance.
- Establish and maintain quality control (QC) procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and test methods.
- Perform physical, analytical and chemical property testing (e.g., thermal analysis, mechanical testing, rheology) on raw materials and finished goods.
- Analyze test data, document results, and provide technical reports on product performance.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 17025 or other industry-specific regulations.
- Assist manufacturing with troubleshooting, non-routine customer complaints, and production-scale trials.
- Evaluate and validate new processes to ensure they meet specifications.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Polymer Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Material Science.
- 3–7+ years of experience in polymer formulation, testing, or processing (e.g., extrusion, injection molding).
- Proficiency in analytical equipment (DSC, TGA, FTIR, HPLC, Spectrophotonomer, rheometers), data analysis, and technical report writing.
- Strong analytical, project management, and collaborative skills.
- Strong experience and knowledge in Research and Development (R&D) and conducting research in related fields.
- Strong experience and knowledge of ISO 9001 and 17025 quality systems.
- Proficient in Team Management, including supervising and mentoring teams.
- Well-versed in Project Management and Team Leadership, with the ability to effectively oversee and coordinate initiatives.
- Demonstrated problem-solving, analytical thinking, and decision-making abilities.
- Background in polymer science or industrial manufacturing is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Engineering, Chemistry, or Materials Science); advanced degree preferred.
