Position: Sr Staff Supplier Quality Engineer (Assembly)

Job Description

Sr Staff SQE (Supplier Quality Engineer) for Assembly sites (OSAT and IM sites)

Key Responsibilities
  • 1. Supplier Quality Management & Liaison: Act as the primary quality interface between suppliers and Renesas, ensuring alignment with quality requirements and expectations.
  • 2. Quality Excursion Management & Corrective Actions: Lead the investigation of quality issues using structured problem‑solving methodologies (e.g., 8D) and drive effective corrective and preventive actions to closure.
  • 3. Supplier Audit, Certification & Change Control: Maintain and execute the supplier audit program, and support supplier process/material change management and site certification activities.
  • 4. New Supplier Assessment &

    Qualification:

    Provide quality leadership in the evaluation and qualification of new subcontractors supporting Automotive, High Reliability, Industrial, and Commercial markets.
  • 5. Continuous Improvement Leadership: Analyze quality trends, manage improvement projects, and influence cross‑functional teams to drive continuous improvement at subcontractor sites.
  • 6. Training & Best Practice Deployment: Deliver supplier quality training and support the development and deployment of best‑known practices across subcontracted manufacturing operations.
Qualifications Must (Required)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant field
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in supplier quality management, including supplier selection, quality improvement, and manufacturing excursion response
  • Working knowledge of semiconductor assembly processes
  • Hands‑on experience with problem‑solving methodologies such as 8D, 5‑Why, and Fishbone analysis
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross‑functional teams
  • Third‑party audit certification for ISO
    9001 and IATF
    16949
  • Willing to visit Inhouse Manufacturing (IM) sites in KL or Penang when required
Want (Preferred)
  • Experience or knowledge of advanced semiconductor packaging (e.g., Multi‑Chip Modules)
  • Knowledge and practical use of ISO
    9001 and IATF
    16949 Core Tools
  • Proven ability to influence suppliers and drive timely resolution of quality issues
  • Experience working in a regional or global supplier quality environment
  • Understanding of Japanese Culture
  • Japanese language skill (JLPT N5 or above)
