Aerospace / Aviation / Avionics, Systems Engineer
We are looking for a Simulation Engineer to join a pioneering aerospace client of ours that is bridging the gap between traditional aerospace certification and the future of autonomous flight.
Most simulation roles focus on pilot training. This role is different: you will be building the high-fidelity 'Digital Twin' used to certify an AI-pilot. Because this system is intended to replace a human in the cockpit, your models in MATLAB/Simulink and C++ must meet the rigorous FAA Part 60 standards—meaning your code doesn't just need to look real; it has to be mathematically indistinguishable from a physical aircraft in flight.
* This is a fully remote contract opportunity for qualified U.S. citizens.
Develop and maintain real-time flight simulation software in C++
Design, implement, and validate high-fidelity flight dynamics and aerodynamic models
Develop and maintain simulation models using MATLAB/Simulink
Integrate Simulink models into real-time simulation environments
Support simulator qualification and validation in accordance with FAA Part 60
Perform model tuning, verification, and validation against flight test or OEM data
Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to support avionics integration
Document modeling methodologies and certification artifacts
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
Strong knowledge of aircraft flight dynamics and aerodynamics
Extensive hands-on experience with MATLAB/Simulink modeling and simulation
Strong C++ programming skills (object-oriented design, real-time systems)
Experience supporting FAA Part 60 flight simulator qualification efforts
Experience integrating models into real-time simulation architectures
U.S. Citizenship (required)
Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation
Familiarity with avionics systems and ARINC protocols
Experience with full-flight simulators (FFS) or flight training devices (FTD)
Experience with model-based design workflows
