Job Summary
Maintains and supports the Water and Power departments Geographic Information System (GIS). Performs high level work in the maintenance of the utility's enterprise GIS and other integrated systems. Creates and maintains maps and other information products. Collect field information using GPS for the Water and Power Department.
Job DetailsThe salary range for this position is $27.88 - $39.04 per hour with a hiring range of $27.88 - $33.46

- Creates or updates electric, water, wastewater, broadband and other GIS features based on construction drawings and/or field data.
- Maintains connectivity and integrity of utility's geometric networks.
- Collect field data using GPS equipment.
- Creates and maintains professional maps and other information products as requested.
- Research historical documents for asset details.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- There are no supervisor or manager expectations.
Experience:
- Required:
1 Year working experience using ArcGIS software performing GIS data maintenance. - Preferred: 1 Year working experience editing an ArcFM geodatabase.
- Preferred: 1 Year working experience reading and interpreting construction plans.
Education:
- Required:
2 Years/Associate Degree in GIS, Geography, Civil Engineering or related field - Preferred: 4 Years/Bachelors Degree in GIS, Geography, Civil Engineering or related field
An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may substitute for education requirements on a year for year basis.
Certifications- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- GIS certification desired.
- Working knowledge of editing GIS data with current version of Esri's ArcGIS.
- Knowledge of editing geometric networks.
- Knowledge of editing in a versioned geodatabase environment.
- Ability to read and interpret utility construction plans.
- Skilled in the use of GIS data in the creation of professional maps and other information products.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Frequent:
Light to moderate physical effort that includes frequent standing or walking or maintaining arms and hands in the same position for repetitive tasks. Frequently works with light objects and light hand tools.
- Occasional:
Exposure to hazards that are predictable or well protected against. - Occasional:
Exposure to heat and noise along with working outside in the elements.
