The Opportunity
Tetra Tech is adding an experienced Coastal Engineer with strong technical expertise and client-facing skills to support coastal infrastructure projects. This role combines engineering design, project management, and business development, with responsibility for delivering high-quality coastal solutions while building client relationships and generating new opportunities.
The ideal candidate will have experience with marinas, seawalls, living shorelines, and other coastal structural infrastructure, along with the ability to lead projects, mentor junior engineers, and represent the firm in the marketplace.

Essential Job Functions Technical Design & Engineering- Apply knowledge of marinas, seawalls, living shorelines, and other coastal structural infrastructure
- Produce complete sets of plans with minimal direction
- Serve as the technical lead for planning and project development efforts
- Assist with developing engineering standards and guidelines
- Develop a strong understanding of the design process and support junior engineers
- Prepare project scopes, budgets, and schedules
- Manage assigned projects to meet quality, schedule, and budget objectives
- Maintain client satisfaction for assigned projects and accounts
- Ensure projects are executed in accordance with industry practices and client expectations
- Interact with and develop relationships with regulatory personnel and clients
- Lead project development from opportunity identification through proposal preparation and execution
- Generate new opportunities through external engagement and community involvement
- Initiate and maintain relationships with key officials and organizations
- Represent the firm to clients, prospective employees, and the communities served
- Demonstrate leadership that contributes to team effectiveness, client relationships, and opportunity generation
- Communicate effectively through strong oral and written skills
- Apply persuasion and negotiation skills to resolve critical issues
- Spend time outside the office building relationships and generating business opportunities
- Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards
- Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline, knowledge and awareness
- Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns
- Additional duties as required
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Civil Engineering or Coastal Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Florida
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant coastal engineering experience
- Proven experience balancing technical delivery with client-facing responsibilities
- Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record without restrictions
- Office-based with regular external meetings and site visits
- Time spent outside the office supporting business development, client meetings, and project-related activities
