Overview
Brown and Caldwell (BC) is seeking an experienced collaborative delivery professional to join our national Owner's Advisor team within our Integrated Project Delivery group. This position will pursue and implement collaborative delivery processes for diverse clients on large programs and specific projects nationwide. You will work with and be mentored by nationally recognized collaborative professionals and engineers with design-build experience.
This is an exciting, client-facing role where the selected individual will have the resources and autonomy to oversee and lead collaborative delivery project work, with opportunities to work directly with clients on technical planning and execution.
Remote work is allowed. Position will require travel, averaging 20-30% with potential up to 50%.
Detailed DescriptionAs an Owner's Advisor, the focus is on assisting Clients in the full development and delivery of collaborative delivery projects, including project definition, delivery partner procurement, preconstruction implementation, delivery of design and construction, start-up and commissioning, and O&M for design-build, progressive design-build, construction management/general contractor (CMGC), construction management at-risk (CMAR), and P3 projects. This position supports projects in locations throughout the U.S.
Characteristics of a successful candidate include attention to detail, ability to organize and review documentation with an understanding of design-build and collaborative delivery industry approaches, and the ability to provide recommendations for procurement and selection of design-build partners for clients. The candidate should have the proven ability to guide, lead and manage large programs and projects, multidisciplinary project delivery professionals, while maintaining and expanding relationships with local and national resources and teams.
The candidate should have strong self-motivation, the ability to work independently and with internal and external teams, such as clients and contractor partners.
- Provide assessments and guidance regarding client/owner organizational readiness and preparation for collaborative delivery understanding, planning, development, and execution.
- Provide guidance related to the merits of various project delivery methods and support procurement best practices as an advisor to owners.
- Prepare and present to clients on best practices for collaborative delivery (design-build in its various methodologies and CMGC/CMAR) implementation.
- Collaborate with internal teams to plan, develop, and execute procurement documents for design-build and CMAR projects.
- Collaborate with clients to develop documentation and coordinate with procurement and legal teams to support design-build project development and execution during procurement, preconstruction, and construction phases.
- Support the development of procurement documents and coordinate associated technical specifications, reports, planning, and design and construction submittal reviews, calculations, models and other technical deliverables to support the owner’s procurement and implementation process.
- Develop and customize RFQ and RFP documents for procurement activities using various collaborative delivery methods.
- Provide guidance and support in developing selection criteria and SOQ/proposal scoring criteria and approach.
- Support owners/clients in reviewing various designs and construction plans and approaches during the design and preconstruction phase of design-build and CMAR projects.
- Support owners/clients in reviewing and validating design-builder and CMGC/CMAR construction estimates and support guaranteed price negotiations on the owner’s behalf.
- Support owners/clients in design-builder contract compliance and services during construction.
- Communicate effectively and coordinate with multi-discipline project teams including client staff, technical resources, public entities and regulatory agencies, and subconsultants as needed.
- Support development and communication of design-build and CMAR best practices via participation in professional organizations and conferences and for internal marketing and staff development.
- Support the development of proposal responses for developing and winning new work.
- Travel may be required; up to 50% of the time.
- Minimum 15 years of progressively increasing responsibility with experience related to design-build and CMAR procurement and delivery, including business development, contract management, contract and project terms and negotiations, and implementation of collaborative delivery projects.
- Experience with planning, strategy, and understanding of design-build and CMGC/CMAR delivery methods.
- Experience with collaborative project delivery in the municipal and/or private sector.
