Project OverviewBechtel is partnering with Next Decade to support their vision to provide the world access to lower carbon intensive energy with their Rio Grande LNG (RGLNG) project in Brownsville, Texas. RGLNG is a natural gas liquefaction and export terminal situated on a 984-acre site on the banks of the Brownsville ship channel. The first phase of the RGLNG project consists of three liquefaction trains, two storage tanks and two marine berth.
At full capacity, the five‑train facility will have a production capacity of 27 million tonnes per annum (MTPA).

Job SummaryIn this role, you will conduct field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a project’s control systems aspects. You will lead design, development, modification, and evaluation of control systems components and processes. Your recommendations will resolve technical issues and ensure unique and complex requirements of a project’s control systems aspects are met.
Major Responsibilities- Configure and troubleshoot ABB 800xA Integrated Control and Safety Systems (ICSS) including Process Control, Emergency Shutdown and Fire & Gas
- Support loop checking, functional testing, and commissioning of instrumentation and systems
- Provide technical assistance to other Control Systems personnel and interact with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in resolving complex regulatory issues
- Provide assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project Control Systems requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution
- Assist the construction team in developing design changes to resolve field problems. Resident Engineers will be able to provide firsthand assistance in finding problem solutions. Resident Engineers approve Field Change Documents (FCDs) and Non‑Conformance Reports (NCRs), obtaining client approvals as necessary.
- Provide clarification on engineering drawings and specifications, answering Requests for Information (RFIs)
- Provide technical direction and guidance to subcontractors performing design during the construction phase of the subcontract, including document review where agreed with the home office
- Assure that FCDs do not conflict with the intent of the design
- Provide field engineering support for instrumentation and control systems during construction, commissioning, and start‑up phases
- Review and update design deliverables to reflect field changes and as‑built conditions
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project specifications and timelines are met
