Within the Environmental Resource Permit (ERP) Bureau, you’ll have the opportunity to conduct professional level technical and administrative engineering work that supports the ERP Compliance Section. The successful candidate will spend the majority of time in post‑permitting compliance, while also coordinating closely with the ERP Evaluation Section. Apply knowledge of engineering principles, project management, scientific findings, and environmental laws to evaluate, plan, design, and complete water‑related projects that ensure compliance with regulations and policies.
This role is hybrid; the employee will be required to work on-site and, where possible, remotely (must live in Florida). Flexible scheduling and remote work options are available to support work‑life balance.

Essential Functions- Ensure activities are brought into compliance with the state and District rules, including the transfer of construction permits to the operation phase, permit condition violations, expired permits, and unauthorized construction activities.
- Work closely with Regulatory Support staff to accomplish tasks as outlined in the rules, procedures, and guidelines.
- Travel to site meetings in designated District counties.
- Participate in ERP Bureau projects under the direction of the ERP Compliance Manager, as assigned, and perform other duties as necessary.
- Support emergency management before, during, and after major storm events and/or in conjunction with the overall emergency management strategy, operations, and recovery for the State of Florida. May be required to perform duties as assigned during emergencies, including hurricanes or other declared emergencies.
In‑office:
Standard office environment and equipment such as personal computer and copier. Occasional travel may be required. Ability to perform continuous repetitive tasks (keyboarding and driving) with one or both hands and feet is required.
In‑field:
Work performed in remote and undeveloped areas under adverse weather conditions. Travel and outdoor labor may be required, with exposure to extremes in elements, temperature, humidity, and pests. Ability to bend, lift, carry, and reach above shoulder level; occasional lifting of objects up to 20 pounds. May require operation of a motorized vehicle for extended periods, including off‑road (4x4) conditions.

- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field.
