Overview
Jacobs is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to join a diverse team delivering fire protection concepts across Commercial, Federal, Mission Critical, and Advanced Facilities markets globally. You will work with experienced Fire Protection Engineers to develop and apply your skills on challenging projects, gain exposure to project coordination, engineering software, data collection, and related activities. The role emphasizes collaboration, continuous learning, and delivering innovative solutions for complex facilities.
Responsibilities- Direct the activities of design staff to produce drawings and calculations for fire sprinkler systems, special hazards suppression systems, fire pumps, fire alarms and mass notification, and building/life safety code analysis.
- Collaborate with engineers and designers on project delivery across diverse markets and regions.
- Apply relevant codes and standards to design work and ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Contribute to the development of designs on critical projects and participate in coordination with multi-discipline teams.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Safety Technology or related field
- At least 10 years of related experience
- United States Citizenship
- Familiarity with NFPA and ICC codes and standards
- Willingness to travel to job sites around the world (approximately 10-15% travel)
- Experience in fire sprinkler, suppression, and fire alarm system layout utilizing hydraulic calculation programs; knowledge of NFPA Codes and International Building and Fire Codes
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in any US state, with fire protection engineering examination
The base salary range for this position is $110,600 to $193,600. Salary is determined by location, skills, experience, and education. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, basic life insurance, a 401(k) plan, stock purchase options, and eligibility for deferred compensation plans. Jacobs offers an unlimited U.S. Personalized Paid Time Off (PPTO) policy for full-time salaried/exempt employees, seven paid holidays, and caregiver leave.
