The candidate will act as the Electrical Field Engineer on the Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) Project in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The candidate may start in the home office in Reston-VA; as single status, to support preconstruction planning, ahead of project mobilization to the field. This position is contingent upon project awards.
Job SummaryIn this role, you will support project field engineering by managing work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspections and testing, and system turnover coordination. Your contributions will ensure that field engineering activities are safe, complete, and meet quality standards and project requirements. Reporting to the Project Field Engineer, you will collaborate with Field Supervision, other Field Engineers, craft professionals, and additional team members as assigned.

Work Planning & Packaging
- Coordinates the preparation of construction drawings, sketches, projections and schedules for workforce, material, and equipment requirements
- Developing installation work packages for scopes of work in support of the construction schedule.
- Providing support to field supervision in establishing requirements for manpower, tools, equipment, and material requirements for a given work evolution.
- Coordinate with other discipline superintendents and field engineers for interface coordination of construction work activities and plans.
Material Management
- Initiates requisitions for field purchases.
- Prepares quantity take-offs of field purchased material and equipment.
- Reviews material receiving reports and performs material receiving inspections.
Quantities
- Verifies commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required.
Safety / Quality Control
- Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
- Perform quality control inspections and manage associated Inspection and Test Records (ITRs).
- Ensure completed work packages and ITRs are submitted to Turnover.
Technical
- Proactively considers continuous learning or show interest to pursue appropriate learning activities.
- Be able to read and interpret design information including single line diagrams, cable schedules, wiring diagrams, panel schedules, and underground commodity drawings.
- Inspect quality of field installed commodities and ensure installation is in accordance with design documentation. Use GIS and Smart Completions tools to plan and document quality verifications.
- Completion of quality documentation in automation tool through construction and system turnover. Complete Inspection Installation and Test Records for electrical works.
- Supports construction engineers, discipline superintendents, foremen, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents.
- Completing final system walk-downs, deficiency tracking, and close-out.
- Completing and reviewing as-built documentation.
For Direct Hire
- Develops firm understanding of system and area scoping and drawings required for package development.
- Builds system and area turnover packages both digitally and physically for turnover to startup and client.
- Reviews and approves inspection test plans
- Coordinates reviews of subcontractor submittals
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
- Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H) and commitment to a Zero Incident safety program.
- Must be physically capable to conduct field inspections and participate in project walkdowns which require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, walking on uneven surfaces, and lifting up to 40 lbs.
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of EPC and EPCM construction programs, technologies, means, and methods.
- Familiarity with Bechtel Standard Applications (BSAPs), including Setroute, ArcGIS, Aconex, DSCS, and Unifier.
- Basic knowledge of electrical commodity and equipment installation including cable pulling, terminations, underground direct bury cable installation, and invertor/transformer setting/wiring.
- Basic knowledge of all required/applicable cable testing (continuity, insulation, VLF, etc.) and site material inspections
- Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards such as NEC, NFPA 70E, and IEEE.
- Familiarity with working on or near energized circuits including lockout/tagout and arc flash hazard analysis.
