Plumbing​/Fire Protection Engineer III

About the Role

This role is remote within the U.S., with a preference for candidates located in or near Arlington, VA;

Pittsburgh, PA, or St. Louis, MO.

You will be a member of a multi-disciplinary team and will work under the direction of designated project leadership. Projects may include new construction and renovation in educational, healthcare, corporate commercial, and science and technology sectors.

• Perform and direct design of ductwork, piping, and equipment selection for plumbing and fire protection systems independently on assigned projects. Complex projects may be supervised by a professional engineer. Assist with HVAC designs as needed.
• Provide project management direction within the mechanical discipline, monitoring project progress and budget.
• Prepare Revit/BIM models for construction drawings of plumbing and fire protection systems from schematic design to construction administration phases, including layout, sketches, and detail drawings. Perform Revit/BIM modeling for HVAC systems as required.
• Edit specifications relating to existing or new projects.
• Research and respond to emergent issues as needed.
• Specify mechanical equipment such as boilers, chillers, and air handling units.
• Review shop drawings for compliance with specifications and contract documents.
• Interface effectively with clients and project team members, attend owner, architect, and construction administration (OAC) meetings with an understanding of the project budget.
• Respond to RFIs and review change orders in the preparation of construction documents.
• Conduct job site visits to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress. Participate in construction meetings and site walkthroughs as required.
• Coordinate work activities on specific projects with several persons at various levels of capability, and participate in business development and marketing activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Minimum of 6+ years of related experience.
• Current PE or FPE in the United States.
• LEED accreditation preferred.
• Working knowledge and experience in mechanical engineering, with ongoing development of higher-level knowledge.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to handle multiple projects effectively.
• Experience with engineering design programs such as Revit, Trane Trace, or Trane 3D Plus.

The salary range for this position is $80,200 to $100,200. Employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
