Description
ICF is seeking a Substation Physical Designer to support the execution of distribution substation projects at voltages from 12 kV to 69 kV. The core responsibilities focus on distribution-level projects, with expected involvement in transmission substation projects above 69 kV.

Responsibilities- Design and prepare substation drawings including:
- One‑Line and Three‑Line diagrams
- Station General Arrangements & Sections
- Grounding Plan & Details
- Conduit Plan & Details
- Control Cubicle Layout, Sections, Cable Tray, Lighting, and Grounding
- Low‑Voltage AC Panels
- Protective Schemes
- Relay One Lines and Three Lines
- AC/DC Schematics
- Panel Layouts
- Wiring Diagram and Cable Schedule
- SCADA and Communication Diagrams
- Bill of Materials based on Design Criteria
- Coordinate with physical, protection & controls, and drafting disciplines to ensure high‑quality deliverables.
- Participate in client meetings and perform site visits for data gathering as required.
- Interpret and incorporate vendor information into design deliverables.
- Apply client standards related to the work.
- Ensure company Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) processes are followed on all design packages.
- Continuously improve engineering, technical, and professional knowledge, skills, and performance.
- Mentor and guide junior designers.
- Associate’s degree in Drafting/Design or related field. One year of drafting coursework or equivalent technical experience may substitute for one year of education.
- 2+ years of substation design experience with Inventor 3D, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Bluebeam, and Micro Station.
- Associate’s degree in Computer Aided Design.
- Ability to prioritize work across multiple projects.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Knowledge of substation design techniques, tools, and principles for producing technical drawings and models.
- Understanding of practical engineering science applications and equipment integration into designs.
