Job Description
This position is responsible for engineering prototyping with advanced composite materials, including design input, equipment programming, operation, assembly, and inspection. The role also covers the development and improvement of production methods for ceramic‑based composite materials, equipment programming (e.g., Master
CAM, PC‑DIMS, Calypso, MX), generation of PC‑based outputs on standard platforms (Agile, Oracle, Cumulus, Creo, Solid Works), continuous improvement participation (Lean/Kaizen, ISO, 8D), interfacing with external entities (customers, tooling suppliers, equipment vendors, toll manufacturers and test labs), and transferring successful products to Manufacturing, including documentation and training.
- BS in Engineering or Science
- AAS in Engineering or Science with relevant experience in materials processing, manufacturing, machining, CNC programming, or prototyping
- Knowledge of advanced materials and processing (ceramics, metal matrix composites, etc.)
- Knowledge of machining methods, including milling, turning, diamond grinding, EDM, laser and other techniques
- Experience with design software such as CAD (ProE/Creo, Solid Works) and CAM (Master Cam, Surf Cam, Gibbs Cam) and CMM (PC‑DIMS, Calypso)
- Aptitude for external interfacing with vendors and customers
- Position requires on‑site activities for prototype fabrication (not a work‑from‑home position)
- Work schedule is 5 days, 40 hours per week, first shift
- Required to frequently lift/push/pull a minimum of 35 lbs
- Must be able to sit, bend, squat, and walk around the facility
- May need to walk/stand for the entire 8‑hour day depending on project assignment
