A highly qualified and motivated Fire Protection Engineer is needed in the United States to help fuel our continued growth. The role will join a respected team of PSM experts working on challenging projects for many of the world’s largest corporations.
What You’ll DoThe engineer will advise clients on fire hazards and risk assessments, fire code analysis, fire protection systems design, and quantitative risk assessments using performance‑based approaches, including fire development and explosion modeling.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in fire protection engineering or an equivalent related field.
- Minimum 5+ years of direct experience with fire protection engineering.
- Ability to determine fire protection system requirements for highly protected risk applications handling flammable and combustible liquids and gases in petroleum and chemical manufacturing facilities.
- Experience designing fire detection equipment, alarm systems, and fire suppression systems for industrial facilities.
- Knowledge of internationally accepted fire protection equipment and techniques as well as fire codes and standards interpretation and compliance, especially NFPA 30, 400, 1, 13, 15, 11, 68, 69, 101 and building fire codes (IBC/IFC).
- Knowledge of combustion and explosion principles and ability to conduct performance‑based assessment using fire hazard and consequence modeling methods.
- Ability to investigate causes of fire and explosion incidents.
- Ability/willingness to travel frequently (average 25‑50% within the US, occasional international travel). A valid driver’s license is required.
- Background in system design or code consulting involving industrial chemical applications.
- Appropriate licensure necessary to act as senior lead and reviewer on project work (e.g., PE license).
- Demonstrated success within a fire protection consultancy, with proven ability to attract, acquire, and develop client relationships.
This is a remote position that requires travel to client sites as needed (25‑50% travel). The engineer must be willing and able to travel to client locations.
