Job SummaryWe are looking for a Systems Engineer to join our Requirements and Architecture Engineering team in support of MQ-9B Programs in Poway, CA. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your system engineering expertise to provide cutting-edge technology for our customers, with growth opportunities supporting this expanding customer base.
Duties & Responsibilities- Perform System Engineering activities primarily focused on requirements management for Unmanned Aerial Systems.
- Conduct system engineering activities for one or more project efforts to include requirements development for design, development, and integration.
- Analyze stakeholder requirements to decompose and allocate requirements to lower levels of specifications (system/segment/subsystem/component) with bi-directional traceability between requirements at all levels.
- Elicit stakeholder needs, analyze and define requirements, including allocation, decomposition, and bi-directional traceability.
- Support the development of test plans and test procedures.
- Manage verification and validation of system requirements through different test phases.
- Determine system impacts based on functional analysis to proposed changes.
- Provide guidance on conflicting design/development requirements, difficult coordination requirements, and special requirements.
- Interface effectively with internal and external personnel using strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Participate in technical reviews, meetings, and system-level integration events.
- Collaborate with MQ-9B leadership, customers and design teams to resolve system-level issues and maintain alignment with program needs.
- Employ standard Systems Engineering practices and methodology utilizing available tools and resources, including:
- Requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS, JAMA, Excel)
- Verification management tools (e.g., Integrity Lifecycle Manager)
- Data management tools (e.g., SharePoint, Teamcenter)
- Documentation tools (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite) and other similar tool alternatives.
- Manage Systems Engineering schedules and allocated budgets.
- Develop and present technical material for reviews and engineering meetings.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence across the systems engineering organization.
- This position is eligible for the Individual Compensation Program (ICP) bonus.
- This position is eligible for a hybrid work environment (up to 1 day/week remote work from home) pending project needs.

- Typically requires a bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution, with four or more years of experience with a bachelor’s, or two or more years with a master’s degree; substitution of equivalent engineering experience is allowed.
- Strong understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory, with the ability to apply them in evolving environments.
- Ability to understand new concepts quickly, organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases, and determine appropriate approaches to solve complex problems.
- Excellent communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Able to perform complex tasks in one engineering area and lead a team of less experienced professionals on semi-routine tasks.
- Able to work extended hours as required.
- A Professional Engineering License is desirable.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance is required.
