Position: Lead Fire Protection Engineer (Remote)

Opportunity

We’re seeking a Lead Fire Protection Engineer to work remotely or in one of our national offices. The role includes overseeing the design, coordination, and delivery of fire protection systems for a variety of building types, managing project teams, leading client coordination, and producing high‑quality engineering deliverables such as calculations, drawings, and specifications.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead project teams and manage discipline delivery, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Prepare deliverable documents, including narratives, calculations, drawings, and specifications.
  • Attend client meetings and coordinate between external and internal project teams.
  • Apply engineering judgment and techniques to complete projects from concept through construction.
  • Design and plan fire protection system layouts, including mechanical and plumbing components.
  • Assemble and manage effective project teams.
  • Develop project workplans, tasks, and assignments.
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary activities.
  • Apply building codes and fire protection standards, including NFPA, IBC, and other relevant codes.
  • Oversee engineering calculations and equipment selection.
  • Conduct site visits and issue reports.
  • Provide training, guidance, and mentorship for staff.
  • Update master specifications and standards, and improve company processes.
  • Build client relationships.
  • Determine fire protection and plumbing system requirements for various building types.
  • Apply the project quality management plan (QMP).
What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Relevant professional credential (e.g., PE, CPD).
  • Seven or more years of related work experience.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate staff.
  • Advanced understanding of fire protection design concepts, code knowledge, and effective communication of design options.
  • Strong delegation skills.
  • Attention to detail and advanced organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of applicable plumbing codes and standards, including UPC, IPC, NFPA, and IBC.
  • Experience with Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Auto Sprink experience preferred.
What We Offer
  • Hiring base salary range: $117,000–$134,500 per year.
  • Eligibility for time and a half overtime pay.
