Position Location

Hybrid – work from anywhere in the United States. Must be located near a major airport.

Travel Requirements

Up to 75% domestic travel; relocation may be considered for long‑term project needs. Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to rent vehicles. A valid REAL  (or an acceptable alternative, such as a passport) is required for travel associated with this position. Potential for international assignments and relocation opportunities may exist per project needs.

Job Summary

The Commissioning Field Manager I is a leadership role responsible for overseeing commissioning execution, managing field teams, and ensuring project milestones are met. This position builds upon Specialist II responsibilities, requiring advanced decision‑making, resource coordination, and client interaction to drive successful commissioning projects. The role involves limited supervision, with the expectation that the manager can independently manage field execution while supporting project leadership.

Functions
  • On‑site Commissioning Activities and Manage Projects (50%)
    • On‑site inspection, validation, functional testing, verification and troubleshooting of electrical, mechanical and controls equipment
    • Participate in factory witness testing and observe startup activities
    • Use technical equipment to perform testing
    • Direct vendors/contractors in the execution of testing
    • Develop proposals including project scope, schedule and budget; seek supervisory input before sending to client
    • Manage project site team, including resource forecasting and coordination
    • Identify potential project risks and aid in strategy development to minimize impact and control deviations from estimated costs and deadlines
    • Primary site contact for clients and build long‑term client relationships
    • Onboard project team for mobilization and provide ongoing updates
  • Develop Testing Plans and Procedures (20%)
    • Develop commissioning plans
    • Prepare pre‑functional checklists
    • Prepare functional performance test scripts
  • Review Construction Documents & Design Specifications (15%)
    • Conduct comprehensive reviews of shop drawings, submittals, and sequence of operations
    • Collaborate with engineers and project teams to resolve design discrepancies
    • Ensure project commissioning aligns with contractual requirements and operational efficiency goals
  • Project Documentation & Reporting (15%)
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for project progress reports and commissioning documentation
    • Maintain detailed records of testing activities, issues identified, and corrective actions taken
    • Support project closeout by compiling and submitting final commissioning reports
  • Perform other related duties as assigned on an as‑needed basis.
Position Requirements
  • Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and controls system principles
  • Skill with MS Office Suite and exceptional organizational skills for file management
  • Strong attention to detail and accurate completion of assignments
  • Ability to leverage AI and emerging technologies to streamline workflows and contribute to innovation
  • Effective remote work communication and self‑motivation
  • Follow company and site safety requirements
  • Analyze and prepare documents, reports, and correspondence
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with technical and non‑technical audiences
  • Serve as primary client contact and communicate directly with clients
  • Work as part of a team and independently with moderate supervision
  • Work under pressure and meet close deadlines
  • Effectively plan and delegate the work of others
  • Obtain NFPA 70E and/or OSHA training certification if required
  • Manage multiple tasks simultaneously and maintain organization
