How You’ll Make an Impact

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer with at least 5 years of experience designing electrical and control systems for water and wastewater facilities, including treatment plants, pump stations, storage, and conveyance systems. You will work on a variety of projects supporting electrical power distribution, instrumentation, and control systems—from concept through design and construction support. This is a hybrid position with monthly travel, tied to our San Diego or Arizona offices.

Duties

and Responsibilities
  • Design low- to medium-voltage (120 V–15 kV) power distribution systems in compliance with NEC and other codes.
  • Develop electrical drawings and documentation, including single‑line diagrams, power & lighting plans, conduit block diagrams, panel schedules, and schematics.
  • Design electrical systems, including utility service, power distribution, motor controls, standby power systems, lighting, and grounding.
  • Perform electrical load calculations, voltage drop, short‑circuit analysis, and equipment sizing.
  • Design instrumentation and control systems including P&IDs, instrumentation, PLCs, SCADA, and communication networks (fiber, copper, radio).
  • Define and document hazardous areas per NFPA 820 and NEC 500.
  • Edit technical specifications for electrical, instrumentation, and control systems.
  • Support construction with shop drawing reviews, RFIs, field inspections, and commissioning.
  • Collaborate with multi‑disciplinary teams and follow CAD and design standards.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical and I&C design for water/wastewater facilities.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD.
  • Advanced knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70, NFPA 820, and relevant codes and standards.
  • EIT certification.
  • Experience designing low‑voltage (120 V–480 V) power systems for water/wastewater facilities in compliance with NEC, under light supervision.
  • Experience developing P&IDs, controls, and comm networks using reference designs and light oversight.
  • Independently review electrical, instrumentation, and controls shop drawings and submittals.
  • Excellent communication, time management, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to manage work across multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Valid driver’s license and active personal automobile liability insurance by day one of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Actively pursuing PE license.
  • Experience designing up to 15 kV systems for water and wastewater facilities.
  • Proficiency in SCADA, motor controls, P&IDs, PLC, and telemetry system design.
  • Experience with SKM software and performing power system studies.
  • Construction observation and commissioning experience.
  • Strong ability to independently create and edit E, I&C technical specifications.
Compensation

$90,000–120,000 annually

* Final agreed‑upon compensation will be based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s related experience, education, certifications, skills, and work location.
